The recently debated Clivia miniata is a super houseplant, thrives in an 
eastern window here.  I received mine 25 years ago from a person that claimed 
it could be traced back to colonial times.  Don't know if it is true, but her 
family has been here since those times and it makes a good yarn.  Currently 
in bloom, residing in an an 18 inch clay pot.
