The "freeway daisy" use to be ice plant, you must be mistaken by the name Leptospermum-Tea Tree.  Caltrans has been replacing the ice plant, where they can, with gazania and they also call it freeway daisy. Hmmm. In Southern California, the "freeway daisies" are Leptospermum.
