Lachenalia

Hi all,

I have some unusual Lachenalia species coming. This got me to thinking
about how people grow these bulbs. Is there anywhere in North America
where Lachenalia can be grown outdoors, in the ground?

I realize they are not ever going to be "hardy" where I live (Indiana), but
since they are winter-growing plants from the mediterranean climate area of
the Western Cape and Northern Cape Provinces of South Africa, I wondered if
people could grow them outdoors in the ground in the North American Southwest?

Regards,
