In my area there are Muscari neglectum which flowers from Januray to March, and M.comosum (or Leopoldia comosa) which flowers in April-May. This last is used as vegetable in all south of Italy (simply boiled and dressed with olive oil, salt and pepper or boiled and fried with eggs and flour) and one time people used to dig them. Nowaday they come from cultivated stocks, mainly from Morocco.
