What follows bulbs

One year I planted a row of globe basil over my colchicum collection.
They formed very neat balls of basil and of course I wound up with more
basil than anyone could use. The smaller leaf basil are more intense in
my view.

I have started to plant some late flowering allium in between the
colchicums and so far they haven't clashed. The colchicum foliage dies
back just as the alliums are beginning to reach maturity.
