Crinum Pt Claire

Hello Ken:

Just for the record, I have two Crinum powellii offsets of a potted mother bulb that have withstood up to - 30 C in a protected position in my garden for four seasons to date. They are planted deeply (without mulch) near a large railway tie southwest facing berm and are slowly increasing in size each year, keeping their foliage well into the fall until a hard frost. No bloom as yet, while the potted bulb, which I have had for close to 15 years, may bloom twice a year, summer and winter. We are officially listed as USDA Zone 5b, but that is extremely variable in my experience for the Saint John River Valley complex, New Brunswick, especially in winter.

Regards,
