Russell: Garden centers offer what customers will buy and customers buy what garden centers offer...the proverbial Catch-22. At the same time, we have been taught by society not to take risks. Most nurseries now even guarantee that their plants will survive once they sell the plants. This is a sad insight into how far we have regressed with regards to both risk taking and personal responsibility. The bright side is technology which enables chat groups to feed an underground movement such as the bulb society. This movement will eventually reach many of those who are willing to take risks and boldly grow what and where no one has grown before.
