Seed pods - good or bad?

Following up on Diana and Mark, I can confirm that Mark's suggestion of seed
maturing on severed Allium floral stems can happen. This last May I
brought in a flowering stem of a white flowered native allium to identify
it. In a vase the flowers produced capsules and seed. The scape was thin,
so the bulk of food storage tissue would seem to be in the flower parts.
