Diane's idea of enclosing corms in a wire cage is not new to me. I tried
it, but I found that the emerging shoots often ran into the wire and became
deformed and damaged. I do cover some of my most precious crocuses
(mathewii, moabiticus, etc.) with raised domes of hardware cloth
(small-mesh woven wire) but haven't had time yet to make these for all the
pots, of which I have several hundred.
