Dear Steve,

I'm sorry, I thought I had put where I garden in my signature, but didn't.
I live in coastal Northern California where my conditions wouldn't be at
all like Georgia since we have dry cool summers for one thing. Crocus
ochroleucus I got from Jane McGary's surplus list. I thought I was going to
miss it since it was raining when the buds first started to show and
sometimes the rain has ruined my Crocus flowers, but then we had great
weather and it bloomed for weeks. I was probably just lucky with an
unusually nice couple of weeks. Although I do have some Crocus in the
ground, these two are in containers in my bulb mix and are dry in summer. I
start watering some of the Crocus I grow in containers in late August or
September and they are outside exposed to the elements.

Can any of you who live in the south suggest species that Steve could grow
in the ground?

Mary Sue
