This method is called "community pots" and it is widely used in pot 
gardening. John Ingram masters this. It has been used for bulbs for many 
years and works well. The only drawback is that bulbs must be spottessly 
healthy particularly virus wise otherwise it can end in disaster. Ditto,it 
is a success. Plants enjoy neighbors to talk over the fence, so to speak.
