I remember reading that two clones of Crocus sativus exist, one floriferous and the other, unfortunately most commercially available, unlikely to bloom. The source of this information is lost--anyone else know of this, or offer the floriferous clone?

California Sierra Nevada foothills, mild wet winters, very hot dry summers. Dahlias, cannas, an unknown crocus and a first for me, the stunning (but non-geophytic) Mina lobata, 'Exotic Love Vine.' are still in bloom along with the first wildly spidery chrysanthemums.
