Dear All,

I had this in flower recently, or at least, for the present I accept the
name on the gift bulb!.
Colour as Diana described.
This is the first time flowering for me. Two florets on scape two feet
tall.
Tried crossing with H. papilio in flower at same time. H. mcbrideii as seed
parent has given some seed but H. papilio as seed parent gave nothing.

I was given two different clones of H. macbridei some years ago. Both are
opening buds at the moment. I can't find a description of this species,
and
I think the photo on the IBS web site showed a yellow species, although I
don't seem to be able to access their web site at the moment. The flowers
that are opening are deep red with some striping on the petals. They
aren't
fully opened yet, and when they are I will take a picture and ask Susan
Hayek to put them on the wiki. Has anyone grown this species?
