germinating Erythrina seeds

Hello Ellen,

>>>Has anyone on the list successfully germinated Erythrina zehyeri (a
caudiciform plant, not a bulb, I admit)? The only directions I can
find
suggest immersing the seeds in boiling water and then soaking them
overnight.<<<

Chipping the seed coat opposite the hilum and a 24 hour soak seems to
do the trick in most cases.

When I use 'boiling' water I make sure the temperature is not higher
than 60 Centigrade upon immersion. I think 100 C water is just a little
too harsh for most seeds (except for Acacias that is...).

Bye for now
Rogan.
