Sternbergia

Sternbergias tend to set seed here in my bulb frame in northern Oregon,
which is colder than any part of England but not as cold as, say, most of
the Netherlands. However, the capsules are almost always eaten by something
-- I suspect mice or slugs. The capsules lie on the soil surface while
ripening, making them easy prey. I should probably wrap them in mesh or
something.
