sowing seed on edge

thanks for the reply.
I have previously tried Hippeastrum and Agapanthus seed on their edge but
found it made no difference for me, so I was interested to know if you had
found an advantage with Lilium. It's worth following recommendations though,
especially with rare seed and I usuallly try different methods to compare
results.

"Sowing on edge means handling each seed individually, a nuisance. However,
if you
simply broadcast these flat seeds onto a sowing medium, they tend to overlap
a great
deal, esp. if sown at all thickly."

Yes, that's one of the problems with planting too many seed to a container.
