We also have very good results with babiana - in San Francisco - growing 5 or
six varieties mostly in shades of purple. This was our first year with
babiana rubrucyanum, babiana angustifolium and babiana Jim's choice (a Jim Duggin
hybrid) this year and were very happy with them. We have a lot of an unnamed
species from the UC Berkeley Botanical Garden in bloom right now, which should
have plenty of seed to share. But for future BX, we'd be looking more for
different colored babiana or other species.
