Thank you (and others) for your comments. I think many plants, like I. pandurata and peonies, would have formed {techically and scientifically correct } "bulbs" if they could, and in eons of time, maybe they will......., so I appreciate the latitude given here in this forum, knowing that it does strain at strict definition.
