Exotic Succulents and Cacti Strut Their Stuff
 at San Francisco Succulent and Cactus Society 
 21st Annual Show and Sale – June 16-17, 2007
  
  
             The 21st Annual Show and Sale of the San Francisco Succulent and Cactus Society (SFSCS) will feature hundreds of exotic cacti and succulents for display and purchase on June 16-17 at the Hall of Flowers in the County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park (Ninth Avenue at Lincoln Way, San Francisco).  Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Admission is free.
             Seminars by noted plant experts will be open to the public featuring presentations such as native cacti in Argentina and Chile, and succulents in South Africa; how to cultivate and grow cacti and succulents in the Bay Area; and how to groom and stage these special plants for enjoyment or competition.
             The sale will also include hard-to-find plant and garden books, attractive handcrafted plant containers, and growing supplies for the beginner and expert alike.  A “Father’s Day Special” will offer SFSCS family membership to the society for only $10.  About SFSCS
 The SFSCS is a nonprofit affiliate of the Cactus and Succulent Society of America dedicated to the study, cultivation and preservation of xerophytic (water thrifty) plants and their habitats.  Its educational activities include expert lecturers from around the world, slide presentations, demonstrations of growing techniques, information exchange and visits to local gardens    At monthly meetings featured growers provide the opportunity for members to acquire plants unavailable else where.
