Like Diana, my Amaryllid seed transplanted poorly after germinating in water. Now, I sow the seed in potting soil, cover it slightly with grit and set the pot in water until germination occurs. Voila, no transplanting shock. Joyce Miller, Gresham, Oregon USDA Zone 8.
