Dear Max,

Wow, I love your picture and am so impressed that you are growing this and
flowering it. A lot of the IBSA members find it difficult and the one who
is successful doesn't seem willing to share how he does it. Well done. It
was an impressive site the year we saw it in bloom. How are you growing it?
Share your conditions. Someone from the UK, sorry I can't remember who told
me it would probably be too wet for me to grow most Bulbinellas, that I'd
have problems with disease in my high rainfall. Oakland would get much less
rain than Gualala.

Your comments about the Lilium are very interesting. I did a similar
experiment with Clintonia. My books described a very elaborate process of
stratification and alternate periods of warmth and cold and I found the
year I tried it I had best results with the pots left outside for nature to
do its thing. But then Clintonia grows near where I live so conditions here
would be similar to what you'd expect in nature.

Mary Sue
