Subject: [pbs] finding bulbs in the strangest place

>Last week I had asked my dad to get me a couple of bags of mulch when he went to town. When he came back he had bags of >organic humus.....When I picked up the green item it was a leaf and was attached to a bulb.

Do beware of one thing about humus that contains "peat". Most peat products (like Michigan peat) are made of sedge peat and not sphagnum peat and may contain the corms of this "weed", known in these parts as "nut grass". It is a pesky thing-- when you pull it out, the "nuts" stay in the ground and make more.
