Triploids are fertile

Dear Ken,
Of course the flowers have the last word on things. Yes some
triploids can be fertile, others produce fertile pollen or ovaries.
Anything can and does happen somewhere in the plant kingdom.

I believe this is enough encouragement to continue to try to
make "impossible crosses". We've all heard of people making the same
cross hundreds of times until one took and produced a new race of
hybrids.

If roses and day lilies can do all these odd things, why not
some other plants?

		Keep at it. Jim W.
