Cold winter miscellany

A few hundred feet up the coastal range (including at UC Botantic Garden) we had what counts for us as significant snowfall, but my garden in Oakland escaped the worst of the weather, only getting down to ~30-31 degrees F, (my broken thermometer does not allow for more precision). My bulbs appear to be fine (fingers crossed), although Brunsvigia josephinae and Haemanthus coccineus looked pretty crispy on Tues. morning. Lachenalia aloides and Kniphofia 'Christmas cheer,' the only bulbs blooming blooming now, were unfazed.

I was surprised that my mexican lime (Citrus xaurantiifolia) survived unscathed while Streptosolon jamesonii and Passiflora manicata both suffered substantial dieback.
