Jane,

Your comment about *aggressive stinker* reminded me that right now
Amorphophallus titanum is in late bud at The Huntington Botanical
Gardens, San Marino CA. This bud is about 50 inches tall now and
decidedly pod like. We estimate it will be in flower in 7 to 10 days
with updates on the website.

As far as I know this will be the first US flowering of a plant *in
situ* so to speak, planted in a naturalistic setting in the
Conservatory and surrounded by tropical vegetation. Usually they are
presented in large tubs. It will be the third flowering of this
species at The Huntington. Several adjacent specimens are in full leaf
and so it is an excellent opportunity to see this amazing species in
two main phases.
