Easy yes,Mark --except for fine sand, which is less than an 8 point font, 
and some of us have grits down to the micron level, e.g., silt from old 
ocean or river beds that we garden with.  But it's' still a good suggestion 
for speech or emailing-- to note that the particles under discussion or 
being referenced are smaller than an 8 or 10 point type font.

Most of us probably do something like this in speech, or pick up some sand 
to show--if we're in a face-to-face conversation , but are less likely to be 
clear when writing
