Hi,

When someone suggested changing this list to a forum earlier this
year, it was pointed out that there is already an excellent forum
for bulbs sponsored by the Scottish Rock Garden club and expertly run
by Maggi Young. A number of people in our group belong to it as well
as to the pbs list. It and the pbs list are both open to anyone who
wishes to join and both have many knowledgeable and helpful
participants. Maggi and I had a long exchange after this when it was
discussed before and someone alerted her to it from our archives.
There are advantages to each group. The biggest difference I believe
(I'm not a member of the other mostly because I have no extra time
and I'm sure I'd get hooked quickly) is how we handle images. Images
are much easier to add in their group as they become part of the
forum and the posts. We don't allow attachments or images to be added
to the message. We do allow people to add images to the wiki, but
this takes a bit of effort to learn how to use. On the other hand it
is probably easier to find the images later on the wiki and with
other pictures in the same place of the same genus. Since both have
been in existence for quite awhile, they each have an established
following. Our list started in 2002, first on Yahoo. People come and
go to this list, but we have almost 500 members. I understand from
Maggi that their group is even bigger. We are both proud of each
group and grateful for the contributions from the people who belong to each.

Mary Sue
