Manfreda/Agave virginica

I’ve checked Manfreda/Agave virginica for fragrance several times and so far
I detect nothing. I’ve checked it early in the morning, at midday and in the
evening. All I get is a sort of musty pollen scent.

Many sources praise this plant for its scent, so this is a big
disappointment.

My plant has so far produced two flowers; although each has plainly visible
stamens, I’ve seen no trace of a style yet.
