According to John and Galen Carter, who have grown this plant for an
eternity, quote ''The parentage of this magnificent iris is the stuff of
argument! Found in the well known Nursery whose name it carries. Pale chrome
falls are very heavily veined plum brown. Orange signal also veined.
Standards as falls, styles yellow. Here it appears to grow better in damp
soil rather than actually in the water. 3 ft.''. John is of the opinion it
is a chrysographes cross, which of course would give it its dark coloration.

I not sure that the Foley's who now own the Holden Clough nursery, and who I
also know well, would know any better.

Best Wishes,
Dave
