Speedy connections (was Re: Loss of suppliers)

I don't know what percentage of potential buyers lack fast connections in
this country, but I'm afraid that for most suppliers the slow connectors are
easily written off as a potential market, because there are so many of the
other kind, and appealing to the latter (pictures, thorough descriptions,
shopping carts, etc) is the name of the game. I know - when I dropped my
printed catalog and went to online-only sales from the website, I did much
better, even though it meant that a handful of loyal customers got, as it
were, disconnected. I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, but the
benefit to the seller of making full use of the Internet's capacities (and
the people who can access those) FAR outweighs any sales lost to the small
market of people with slow connections.
