as one might expect 'var' (short form of cultivar?) is popular.


I grew some freesia laxa Joan Evans, from mislabelled seed, nice plants, 
I killed them by leaving them in pots on a greenhouse shelf through "the 
coldest Winter in 30 years" i.e. -5C, they'd have been OK in the 
ground...
