December is usually the wetest month in central coastal California.  However,
this month we have had all of 1/8", with none forecast for the rest of the
month, making this the second driest December in 160 years!  So, without the
threat of rain, Moraea polystachya continues to bud and bloom.  A surprise is
Cypella coelestis which piped up with a bud that will open in the next day or
two.  Iris suaveolens bloomed Dec. 1, but it's done for the season, while I.
reticulata hybrids are just beginning to poke up from the ground.  I. suaveolens
will bloom again at the end of winter, just after the I. reticulata.
