Ae-Ae Bananas

I may be coming in on this thread in the middle. I asume Ae-Ae is the variegated banana That I have seen listed a few years back for $300. Imagine my shock when I found a 5ft pup for $80 this fall at the local farmers market. Now I am seeing if it can survive the winter in our basement under lights. I thought I had found something really special when I was informed by a local plantsperson that Plant Delights has a hardy version they are hoping to market soon!! In a couple of years I might have pups to send to the exchange if all goes well.

I found an interesting site:

http://togofcoralgables.com/AeAebananas.aspx

belonging to someone who got their first plant from a professor in
Miami. Seemingly they are "trophy plants" and change hands for lots of
money.
