Question about harvesting seed

Hi David,

This has been shown by a number of people to occur. A while back Alberto
Castillo harvested green capsules of R. bifida and allowed them to mature.
I have seen a few Triteleia/Brodiaea, Calochortus, and Eucharis green pods
mature off the plant. I think the trick is to keep the pods from drying out
but not too moist or they get attacked by fungus. The seeds are usually
viable.

Your observation with picked vs. non-picked pods on Ismene is really
interesting. So, it's better to keep the pods on the plant unless they are
being threatened by lawn-mowers or have been plucked off accidentally.
