Tony,

Amaryllis belladonna is a synonym of Hippeastrum puniceum, is this what they may be speaking about?

With both Hippeastrum and Amaryllis named in the article it's hard to tell?

Subject: [pbs] Amaryllis x hippeastrum hybrids

Hi folks:

In reading through some old Plant Life journals that a friend shared, I was fascinated by the mention in 1978 of a cross of Hippeastrum yellow hybrid from Len Doran with Amaryllis belladonna.  The cross was made by Richard Tisch of California, and photos are included.  I don't remember ever hearing of a Hippeastrum x Amaryllis cross before.  Are there more?  Anyone know this plant?  Thanks.
