I was also shocked at the vitriol. There is a third way out, and I use this all the time: I send a request to my public library (Marin County). THey have never failed to purchase the books I would like to buy but can't afford (=any book at all--I don't make much money). All I have to do is write up a thoughtful 'wish list' entry. They do the rest. The whole county benefits, and at least ONE book is sold by Timber press. Jacquie Phelan
