Like Lee I too tried to grow one of these in a different season. It
was changing hemispheres and I got conflicting advice about when it
was supposed to grow. But it had a mind of its own and in spite of my
attempts to make it grow late spring-summer like Lee's plants it is a
winter grower. I've never gotten mine to bloom. And I've struggled
to find the best way to grow it as it didn't seem to appreciate our
heavy winter rainfall, but seemed to need more light than it got in
the greenhouse. The last couple of years I've grown it outside, but
sheltered from the rain. There was a flowering stalk once and I was
very excited about it. But it shriveled and died as did the leaves.
The bulb had a Narcissus bulb fly grub eating out the middle. There
were offsets left however. But no blooms from them yet. It's one of
those plants I keep giving one more year to bloom before I send it
off to the BX.
