Hello All,

Over the weekend and as if by magic, this beautiful bulb sent up a flowering stem for the first time since I purchased the bulb five years ago. It was originally sold to me as C. sanguineous, but as the bulb kept on offsetting and losing its leaves in the fall, this couldn't be. I was very tempted to throw it in the compost heap, but I couldn't bring myself to it. This winter I decided to just withhold water until the spring and see what happened. Lo and behold...a wonderful shepherd's crook like peduncle popped up. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning!!! Now that I know what it is, I will treat it accordingly so that it will keep flowering in the future.

Warm Regards,
