Germination (was Re Zoning in the Pacific)

In view of the rather mild conditions you appear experience in Auckland,
especially lack of chill nights, I wonder whether you need to take special
measure to achieve decent germination of winter-growing bulb seeds and/or
whether you think too much is made of providing chill. I know your interests
seem to be directed more to the Central American amaryllids (Zephyranthes,
etc.) where such concerns are not needed but I thought you might be familiar
with what growers of the winter-growers need to do.
