Virused Veltheimia?

Hi Dee,

The pattern does look strange for virus, but you can't exclude that. Seeds
should come through clean, but just in case, soak them in 10% bleach + a
drop of dish soap for 5 minutes. That should get rid of any virus particles
on the surface.

Peter suggested nutrient deficiency, which seems likely. Aspirin in water
can sometimes help mask the symptoms of virused plants. Aspirin is made
from salicylic acid, which is an important compound known to ramp up the
plant immune system. It's sort of like humans taking vitamin C during a
cold.
