What is blooming mid-October

Finishing up bloom here in Shrewsbury, MA is Gladiolus mortonius, which I
never dreamed would overwinter here (zone 5b or 6). It's only been one
winter, and we did have good snow cover, so time will tell; but I was very
surprised when the clump I'd planted came up this year, and a few weeks ago
it bloomed heavily. Superficially it looks somewhat like G. oppositiflorus
- same color - but in the garden, longer and laxer flower spikes and
foliage (and of course there are lots of other technical differences - they
aren't closely related). It'll be interesting to see if it's there a year
from now.
