Lee, Since your ornithogalums bloom every year can you tell us what they were when you started? Did they result from seed you sowed? Some South African bulbs produce offsets, only a fraction of which sprout in any given year. Are the commercial ones we see those that are the sprouters, while the others get held back, as Mary Sue suggests. In nature, perhaps a fire caues massive sprouting? Andrew
