Hippeastrum reticulatum var. reticulatum soil advice

I have not grown the true species so can't comment on its preferred medium. However the vast majority of what is commercially available as this is said to be hybrid in origin and these seem to grow fine in the same soils as other commercial hybrids. If yours is pure it should have a thinner well defined solid white stripe. The hybrids tend the have wider leaves, and wider stripes that are not as pure white.

Hopefully others can chime in with more info.
