Ina,it is in flower all summer in your part of the world, which is something excellent and make it one of the few bulbs species that deserve a place in the garden, but in the wild it flowers in early fall, with the reactivation of the foliage.

The reason why Z. flavissima description is impossible to find is that Ravenna published it and other plants in an osbcure practically unknown Brazilian journal.
