Mystery bulb, possible Ornithogalum, from Atlas Mountains

I agree, looks just like Urginea maritima.  The timing is right for 
it to be in flower (in October) although the timing can vary widely 
in California depending on one's proximity to the coast.  Plants 
grown in cooler summer locations tend to flower significantly later, 
often into November.
