There seems to be something...perhaps a longer summer, that overrides the need for a cold winter in the case of Lycoris X squamigera.

Funny that this topic pops up every year ! I think I have told several time I get plenty of Lycoris x squamigera blooms (right now), as well as sprengeri, chinensis, which set seeds on their own, also many other autumn growing species, which would be more obvious. Anyway, mine is a zone 9b, but this winter has been 10a considering that the lower temps never went under +5°C... and squamigera are in full glory now.Angelo PorcelliApulia - Southern Italy
