Hi Janos, 
thank you for your help.
how much rain do you get in Hungary between May and October and how much moisture evaporates vs. stays in the soil? especially in the natural habitat of Sternbergia colchiciflora?
the photos on the wiki shows it in what looks like dry moss. so it looks like this is in a fairly dry area or very well drained.
