ripening Amaryllis belladonna seeds

Hi Kathy,
The seeds need to be sown while fresh, so when some of the seeds seem to be bursting thru the "pod", which is a thin skin, they are ready to sow. You can break apart any unbroken pods at that point to separate the rounded fleshy seeds. Sow half embedded in a well drained mix, they shouldn't be covered completely, in nature they grow after they drop off the plant. They will make a root then send up a leaf.
