Is it?

It is. SCH in German is the same as SH in English. As is the S is Stein, und so weiter.
I confess that when I talk about Iris or Echinocereus reichenbachii, I pronounce the reichenbach part as though it were German, with an ee-eye stuck on the end. (I say “iris” like they do in English.)
I also say “sigh-kla-men” instead of “sick-la-men” (unless the plants look very bad), for cyclamen.
