Have you tried growing Eucomis in the ground? Here in Knoxville, TN they grow wonderfully outdoors without even extra winter mulch. You look like you're in about the same zone.

Oh well. Today is shady so I feel safe bringing the pot upstairs out of
the dark and putting it in the greenhouse. I always worry that too much
sun on etiolated foliage will shock them into never turning green. If
tomorrow has any sun I'll put white tissue paper over it to act as a
filter. Need to look for thin bamboo stakes to create a support system.
Another something that I cannot, these days, just drive to the store to get.
